Subtle lift that lasts

Wrinkles are not the only change that give you an aged appearance. Over time, volume loss can cause rounded contours of your face, such as your cheeks, to flatten and sag. For anyone facing this age-related problem, Dr. Damico has a solution: Voluma®. Many patients at Skin Care Fort Worth who want their cheeks to regain a youthful shape find that this nonsurgical injectable treatment is exactly what they need.

The best results come from precise injections handled with professionalism, care, and skill, which is why Dr. Peter Damico personally administers every Voluma® treatment at Skin Care Fort Worth.

Voluma dermal facial filler injectable nonsurgical treatment for cheek augmentation

Restore lost volume to your face

Though it is frequently referred to as Voluma® in filler reviews and by patients, its full name is Juvéderm® Voluma XC. This is because it is made by the same manufacturer (Allergan) that produces Juvéderm® XC and Juvéderm® Ultra XC. These injectable dermal fillers all share a common active ingredient (a modified form of hyaluronic acid), but each is ideally suited for a unique aesthetic purpose.

Juvéderm® XC has a variety of applications on the face, primarily devoted to filling in lines and folds. Ultra® XC is used to give lips a fuller appearance.

Voluma® is intended specifically for restoring volume to what is known as the apple of the cheek: a round area—one on the left; one on the right—that tends to become more pronounced when you smile. Voluma® is made via a process that involves Vycross technology, creating a smooth fluid that closely mimics the hyaluronic acid your own body makes. Its consistency means it is easily injectable, maximizing comfort during your treatment session and maximizing natural-looking results.

How does Voluma work?

Voluma for nonsurgical injectable dermal filler cheek augmentation

When learning about Voluma®, it helps us to first understand how naturally occurring hyaluronic acid works. Our bodies make the carbohydrate to lubricate and moisturize areas of our bodies that need a flexible structure, especially our skin. Hyaluronic acid is a main “ingredient” for keeping our skin hydrated and supple. As we get older, the amount of hyaluronic acid in our skin diminishes, and so does the production of the valuable skin component. The reduced production of hyaluronic acid in our bodies leads to shortages of the important carbohydrate in the skin which can then show up as visible lines in the skin or even deepening hollows that can create a gaunt appearance.

Voluma® is injected so that Dr. Damico can fill in those sunken areas and give flattened and even sagging skin a natural-looking lift. The smooth fluid works by instantly rounding out the skin above while providing valuable moisture. Dr. Damico may also use it for other facial contouring purposes, such as restoring lost volume to hollowed, sunken temples. Temples are often overlooked by people who wish to look younger by using injectable fillers, but you would be amazed at what a difference it can make!

Voluma® filler reviews at realself.com reveal that the product has a 90% all-time satisfaction rate. (Find Dr. Damico on RealSelf here.)

What can I expect from a Voluma treatment session?

The amount of filler needed to achieve ideal correction can be administered in about 15 minutes. Dr. Peter Damico uses a cannula to minimize discomfort, which is further reduced by the anesthetic lidocaine in the filler itself. Voluma® before and after photos reveal an instantaneous, but subtle change in patients. The results of an injection session are not permanent, because the modified hyaluronic acid is gradually and safely absorbed into the body.

How long does Voluma last?

Voluma is the only filler proven to last up to 2 years in the cheek area! In addition to that finding, when patients were treated again after 2 years, they needed less product to achieve their desired results.

Of course, everyone’s body is just a little different, so results may vary.

How much does Voluma cost?

Voluma is sold in a single-patient use syringe. Each syringe of Voluma at Skin Care Fort Worth costs $750.

On average, many patients who seek to correct mid-face volume loss find that 11/2 syringes of Voluma per cheek give them the results they’re looking for. This means that a typical treatment for cheek volume will involve 3 total syringes of Voluma at the cost of $2250.

Does Voluma have any possible side effects?

Choosing a properly trained doctor to administer Voluma® will reduce the risk of side effects, though tenderness, swelling, redness, bruising, and similar conditions common to injection sites are possible. Any such effects will likely resolve completely in two to four weeks. Patients can raise any questions or concerns about the treatment with Dr. Damico during their consultation or appointment.

Please visit the official Voluma site to see a complete list of possible side effects associated with Voluma.

Beyond Voluma

Voluma® and the rest of the Juvéderm® family of fillers work well together or on their own to reduce the signs of aging. Dr. Peter Damico also offers a variety of other minimally invasive, non-surgical treatments for patients who want their face to reflect a youthful spirit as opposed to the number of years it has seen.

Radiesse® is another injectable used to restore volume on the face, as well as on patients’ hands, where a loss of volume can emphasize the bones, tendons, and veins as opposed to rounded contours.

Apart from fillers, Skin Care Fort Worth has the popular, wrinkle-smoothing Botox®, as well as chemical peels to reveal unblemished layers of skin and microneedling to stimulate natural healing and collagen production to repair UV damage and scars.
